Conscious Antiracism: Part 1 - Equity and Liberation

Welcome to Conscious Antiracism Part 1, a new program for learning, healing, connecting and creating a culture of justice, equity and liberation. Since the murder of George Floyd in 2020, individuals, organizations and spiritual communities have felt compelled to look at themselves and how they may be complicit in a system that allows such horrors to take place. While commendable and well-intentioned, most have discovered the challenges of antiracism work, and have given up after barely getting started.

Working toward liberation can bring up painful truths and open wounds. It can reveal things about ourselves we do not want to face. Our work for justice must also engage our bodies, minds and hearts. Practicing embodiment is about noticing the feelings and sensations we experience in all aspects of our beingness. As such, we’ve got to get honest about how we have internalized and embody dominant culture.

Through classes, affinity groups and other offerings, we support individuals and groups with living, embodied antiracism and culture building practices that require endurance, resource cultivation, discernment, embodied racial literacy and humility.

Part 1 is based on an understanding of how people of goodwill, when we gather together, almost certainly will unconsciously replicate the forms of dominance, oppression, and harm in the wider community and society, simply because that’s the default.

In Parts 2 and 3 we will engage with interventions, agreements, and practices that begin to change that status quo very consciously. This is laying the groundwork for decolonizing our spaces and ways of being with each other.

Economic Justice

We offer this at different price points in order to acknowledge that some have greater access to privilege and resources. Those with access to more resources provide the cushion for those with less access to resources, creating a sustainable economic underpinning for services, events and items. This is a part of our commitment to challenging privilege and we recognize that money should not be the determining factor for folks who want to access this experience.

$450 – The highest cost – This is how much we would charge for the workshop if we were not implementing a sliding scale. We pay facilitators and leaders a living wage and this amount allows us to continue doing the work we are doing.  If you are financially secure and you have the income to pay for ‘wants’ without it affecting your ability to meet your needs than this is the price to choose.

$300 – The median cost  – This level is for those who would feel the financial pinch if they were to pay the highest price. If you are able to meet your basic needs, but still trying to gain long or short term financial security than this level is for you.

$150 – The lower cost – This level is for those that would not be able to attend workshops/classes at the full rate and their financial circumstance would prevent them from attending classes/workshops if not for an intentional  opportunity available to them to access services at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as healthcare, housing, food, childcare, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you probably belong here and deserve a community that honors your price as an equal economic offering as the person who can pay the highest cost.

If you need financial support beyond our three offerings, please reach out to us.
